Juliane J. Zapalac, P.A.

Mrs. Juliane Zapalac, PA is a licensed physician assistant at the Medical Arts Clinic. She has thoroughly enjoyed caring for residents of Matagorda County and surrounding areas since 2008. Her strong desire to return ‘home’ after completing her Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) came to fruition soon after she graduated from Texas Technical University - Health Sciences Center. Fulfilling a commitment she felt was important early in life in providing health care to the community in which she was born and raised.

PA Zapalac began practice with her current supervising physician, Dr. Dane Simons, MD at the Medical Arts Clinic in November 2013. She sees patients of all ages from infants to geriatrics for yearly wellness exams, acute and chronic health conditions including, but not limited to: upper respiratory infections, ear and throat infections, gastrointestinal disease, joint pain, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disease, high cholesterol, etc. She is able to  perform minor procedures such as ingrown nail removal, skin biopsies, joint injections, drainage of abscesses/boils, order lab and imaging tests such as ultrasounds, CT’s, and MRI’s, interpret such labs and imaging, and make referrals to specialists when necessary. The patients she sees often express that they appreciate the time she takes to communicate with them. Her attention to detail aids in providing thorough examinations and her personable nature help her to clearly explain procedures/prognosis’s in order to develop long-lasting, meaningful patient-provider relationships.

Though PA Zapalac loves her role as a physician assistant and primary health care provider, she also enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, Aaron, and the rest of her family, exercising, fishing, reading, watching movies, and playing any type of sport or game (board, card, dominoes, or dice) imaginable!

2016 Flu Season

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus that infects, the nose, throat and lung cavities. It causes mild to severe illness, and even death in some cases. People most at risk for serious flu infections include children, pregnant women, and people 65 years of age and older.

By taking certain precautions, you may decrease your chances of contracting the Influenza virus. The first step to protecting one's self is to get a flu vaccination every year. Secondly, remember always cover your mouth while sneezing/coughing, and wash your hands as often as possible. Thirdly, try to stay away from people that are exhibiting symptoms, such as fatigue, fever, runny nose, coughing, muscle aches, nausea, and vomiting.

The flu may last anywhere from 7 to 14 days and is extremely contagious. Therefore, if you start to experience any of these symptoms, it is important to visit your physician to be tested for the flu. If needed, your physician will be able to prescribe medication that treats the virus. This medication works best when started within 48 hours of flu symptoms.

At The Medical Arts Clinic,we take pride in our ability to provide a

"home town" experience with " big city " conveniences.
